ABOUT US

Our Courtyard
Step down the hallway (or slip in via the side alley) and you’ll find our courtyard tucked away at the back. With tables and chairs available, it’s sheltered from the wind and a touch quieter than Fraser Street out front. The perfect spot for a chat, a coffee, or a moment of pause.

Car Parking
Visiting us is easy. There’s free parking right out front along Fraser Street, and plenty more around the corner in Service Street.
Accessibility
While our front entrance has steps, there’s an easy way in for everyone. Wheelchairs, prams, and anyone who prefers a step-free entry can use the side alley beside the café, which leads straight through to our courtyard and the rear entrance. We’ve kept this pathway clear and welcoming so all visitors can enjoy their time with us.

Our Story
We wanted to create more than just a café.
From the very beginning, our dream was to build a place where people could feel at home. Somewhere locals could gather, share stories, laugh with friends, and enjoy a quiet moment over coffee or tea. We believed that Clunes, the first gold town in Victoria, deserved a space that both honoured its past and served its community today.
That’s why you’ll find our walls filled with historic photographs of Clunes. The miners, the butchers, the teachers, the families and shopkeepers who built the foundations of this remarkable town. Their spirit continues to shape Clunes, and it’s our tribute to them.
Of course, we’ve also made sure to keep things delicious. Whether you’re looking for a light lunch, delicious coffee, a freshly brewed pot of tea, or just a little sweet treat, we’ve created a menu designed for sharing moments, not just meals.

Clunes Coffee Palace is our way of giving back to the community.
A welcoming spot for friends, neighbours, and visitors alike.
We can’t wait to share it with you.
With warmth, Erica & Jenny

Who are
Etty & Josie?
To make your visit to Clunes Coffee Palace just that little bit richer, we’ve also created two characters, inspired by the spirit of the Clunes gold rush. Meet Etty and Josie.

Calm and steady, Etty has a gift for quiet kindness, fair dealings, and second chances. She keeps the books, bakes the scones, and ensures the café feels like a warm corner of home.

Lively and mischievous, Josie is quick to laugh, quicker to defend, and always ready with a story. Her untamed spirit and hidden tattoos hint at adventures that shaped the café’s fiery heart.
